LATEST UPDATE - MEDIA RELEASE (22 DEC 08) |
|
Hello All,
Firstly we would like to say a big thank you to
you all, especially our sponsor Tim for Acacia's
Catering for supporting us over the last few
months as we tried and tried to find a new
venue...
Well the EXCELLENT NEWS is that we have found a
fabulous venue - the Northmead Bowling Club.
The club has been extremely supportive throughout
the negotiations, and the venue itself is a
corker with it's very own function room entrance,
bar, stage and separate toilets! Please check out
our website at
www.heavensocialgroup.zoomshare.com for all the
details.
We will be starting on Saturday 7th February
2009, and running every second month. We will
feature two MEGA CAMP shows at 10.30pm and
12.00am with the all new 'Westy Divas', and the
cover charge will be dropping to $7 before 10pm
and $10 after 10pm.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish
you and your family all the very best over the
Christmas season. We hope that you ring in the
new year with lots of GLBT style, and we can't
wait to see you all at our launch in 2009!
Warmest wishes,
Beverly Buttercup & Gracie Lou

| LATEST UPDATE - MEDIA RELEASE (16 NOV 08) |
|
Hello All,
In our last 'News Flash' we were pleased to let
you know that we had locked in a new venue - the
Parramatta Golf Club - with verbal confirmation
from the Club Manager that we could start on
January 31st, 2009 with a set function fee.
Following our advertising, new fliers and media
releases confirming our move to the Parramatta
Golf Club, the Club have now advised Heaven
Social Group, that all new events commencing post
01/01/09 will now be charged a $500 function fee
per booking plus the cost of two security guards
(approximately $250 each), making the booking a
total of over $1000!
This is not only three (3) times the original
verbally agreed function fee for the venue, but
also a further $500 for security guards. We will
therefore no longer be relocating to the
Parramatta Golf Club.
How kind however the Club will not be imposing
these new costs for the all girls night dolphins,
as it is an already established night.
We have informed the Club (again) that Heaven
Social Group is a non profit group that
fundraisers for charity, and we simply cannot
afford these costs.
The Club Manager advised that the Board was
already aware of this, and that the new fees
would not be reduced.
It is very disheartening that a Club that has
made tens of thousands of dollars off the GLBT
community through Castaways and Dolphins for over
11 years, is now taking this attitude.
Personally, I am so disgusted that they are not
prepared to stand by their verbal commitment to
our Group, that I have advised Rita who runs
Dolphins at the Parramatta Golf Club, that I will
not be returning to the Club to perform, as I
will not support a Club that will not support the
GLBT community in its entirety.
As we believe Heaven Social Group is an integral
part of the outer western Sydney GLBT scene, and
the only night left that actively fundraisers for
charities, our fight for a new venue is not over.
Following the devastating news from the
Parramatta Golf Club, we have started looking for
another alternate venue, and there is light at
the end of the tunnel.
We will keep you informed of our progress, and
still hope to launch on January 31st, 2009!
In the meantime - it is time to stand up for
yourself as a GLBT member, and choose to support
those who support the GLBT community.
We would also like to take this opportunity to
thank everyone who has supported Heaven,
including the Sydney Star Observer, The Western
Suburbs Haven, Matt Vaughan from ACON, Tim from
Acacia's Catering and everyone else for their
kind words of support.
All future letters of support can be send to
mail@starobserver.com.au and cc in
heavenparramatta@hotmail.com
We wish you all well, and we look forward to
bringing back Heaven in the New Year.
Kindest regards,
Beverly Buttercup & Gracie Lou

Story So Far....Updated April 2008 |
|
The story so far... Heaven Social Group was
created
in April 2007 by Miss Beverly Buttercup and her
fellow 'Westy Divas' Miss Marcia Monterey, Miss
Brandi Alexander and Miss Lola Del Arte.
Since beginning 'Your Westy Divas' has been
awarded the fantastic prize of Best Dressed Group
for their entry into the 2007 New Mardi Gras
Parade.
Previously, 'Your Westy Divas' debuted their
fabulous , colourful and exciting show at D&P at
Moorebank Sports Club. After a year of performing
to the crowds at Moorebank, Miss Beverly
Buttercup
decided it was a time for a change.
The perfect opportunity arose for 'Your Westy
Divas' to move into an established well known gay
& lesbian friendly venue, the Parramatta Club.
The Parramatta Club in the past few years has
strongly supported various nights for the gay &
lesbian community of Western Sydney.
Heaven Social Group started at the Parramatta
Club on the 4th Saturday of the month. The night
included great tunes played by DJ Kezza and two
exciting shows.
First up was 'Your Heavenly Girls' performing camp
classics and including some of Western Sydney's
campest and most orginal drag queens, plus
special
guests.
Following 'Your Heavenly Girls' was 'Your Westy
Divas' performing their show 'Disco Divas'.
Heaven Social Group debuted their Opening Night at
the Parramatta Club on 23 June 2007 with over 150
people attending and welcoming the newest night to
hit Western Sydney.
Heaven Social Group proudly supports the Western
Suburbs Haven - providing services to people
living with HIV/AIDS in Western Sydney.
The Parramatta Club proudly supported the Heaven
Social Group every 4th Saturday of the month. Also
on the 2nd Saturday of the month was Pash, another
exciting night.
Many changes took place in August 07,
Brandi Alexander retired from Drag and the
lovely Tina Swallows filled her spot.
Our DJs became Joal & Geoff after DJ Kezza could
not continue.
In DECEMBER 07 Heaven & Pash were notified that
the Parramatta Club would Be closing down after
supporting the GLBT community for 7 years.
This saw Pash come to an end and Heaven Re-
locating to the Rosehill Bowling Club on every
second Saturday of the month as of January 2008.
With a new venue came a new show 'Legends of
Music' Starring Beverly Buttercup, Marcia
Monterey, Lola Del Arte, Tina Swallows and
Jessika Grabbit, featuring the Special Guests as
in the earlier shows - Gracie Lou, Ida Slapda and
Sue Pernatural.
In March, Heaven donated over $1000 to the
Western Suburbs Haven. All money was raised by
our raffles.
Hope to see you all at Heaven soon.
